Insurance crime costs Canadians more than $1 billion per year. It
transcends our borders and often involves international organized crime rings.
No one organization, group or association has the power, influence or resources
to effect significant change on insurance crime, but if resources are pooled,
ideas are shared and groups work together, the possibility for change is
limitless.
With formal agreements in place, IBC works with many individuals, groups,
professional associations and law enforcement agencies, both here in Canada and
abroad, to reduce or eliminate insurance crime. Below is a partial list.
- NPIC – National Police Information Centre
- CPIC – Canadian Police Information Centre
- NICB – National Insurance Crime Bureau
- ICPO – International Criminal Police Organization – Interpol
- IAAI – International Association of Arson Investigators
- IAATI – International Association of Auto Theft Investigators
- IASIU – International Association of Special Investigation Units
- CAFI – Canadian Association of Fire Investigators
- POLIS – Police Information and Statistics
- NAEC – North American Export Committee
- US Customs
- CACP – Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police
IBC could not have had the success it has in reducing insurance crime for
honest policyholders without the generous assistance of these crime-fighting
partners.
